SPaRC Spotlight: Mission: Possible – Payment Protocol
This Spotlight will take you deep into the world of sponsor payments as the SPA Grants Cash Team uncovers how money really moves—from proposal to Banner—and the surprising pitfalls that can derail it along the way. We’ll decode common issues that cause delayed or missing payments, share real examples from the field, and give you practical intel to prevent problems before they strike. Whether you're new to sponsored projects or a seasoned pro, you’ll leave with the tools and insider knowledge to make every payment mission a success. This session will self-destruct only if you skip it — and you won’t want to!

SPaRC Annual Retreat
The SPaRC Annual Retreat is a chance for research administrators from across campus to come together to connect, learn, and celebrate their important role in advancing the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s research mission. The day features guest speakers, plenary sessions on emerging initiatives and policy updates, and afternoon breakout sessions covering a range of sponsored project topics. Breakfast and lunch are included.
One of the signature elements of the Retreat is the Invited Academic Keynote, which highlights exceptional faculty research. To continue celebrating the world-class research at Illinois, we are now inviting faculty nominations for the 2026 keynote. If you would like to recommend a faculty member whose research merits this spotlight, please submit a nomination using the form linked here: https://forms.illinois.edu/sec/328347339. Nominations are due Friday, January 30, 2026.
